In Mr. Hannah's 9th grade DIP (Digital Information Processing) class, students are learning how to use Excel. One of their favorite activities is 'Excel Battleship'. Mr. Hannah says,
"This was something new I tried with the kids this year after my introduction to spreadsheets, and they LOVED it! It was actually kind of hard to get them back to “spreadsheets as usual” the next day. I used this to reinforce the concepts of cell naming (they have to call out the proper coordinates), cell fill & formatting, changing cell dimensions, text alignment (the H or M had to be centered in each cell), and working with multiple sheets (one for their ships, one for tracking their enemy’s ships)." |
