Using Walls That Teach....To Learn!

Recently, in Mr. Moseley's Physical Science classes, students made use of student work displayed in the hallways as a source of work in the class.  This is a tremendous extension of that which all Fife Schools do.  When our teachers display work, a 'Walls That Teach' document is also displayed.  This document describes the 'Key Concepts', the 'Lesson Design', and 'Student Quotes'.  It's a great document for people to study as a means of understanding that which is being displayed.

Mr. Moseley describes the work the students are doing with the Walls That Teach:

"Two different but related activities are displayed as part of a Walls That Teach display.  Students are then given a “thinking and analysis” question to answer. They visit the wall to research the question and then write it up in their own words. This allows students whose original work was not “up to scratch” to have full access to the information and thus have the fullest opportunity to do well on this assignment.

Displayed work: Life Cycles of Stars research display presentations; Graphing activity chart and questions looking at the relationship between star type, color, temperature and spectral class.  Follow up question: What will happen to our sun?"
