2/12/08 vs Frontier
Varsity boys basketball won yesterday, beating Frontier by a score of 47-38. Leading the way offensively was Jack Murrey with 18 points and Kevin McCrossin with 10 points. Brad Finnlayson brought great defensive pressure and the Cougars put in a great team effort to secure the win.
Junior varsity lost a hard fought battle 27-38. William Lockert led all scorers for the Cougars.

2/26/08 vs Curtis
Boys Basketball clawed their way back from an early deficit, but didn’t have enough to get past Curtis yesterday. Leading the way for the Cougars was Malcolm Brown with 15 points and Eric Newton with 10 points. It was a great team effort on defense as the Cougars had 17 steals against a tough Curtis team.
2/28/08 vs Spanaway
Varsity boys basketball beat Spanaway yesterday by a score of 60 - 46. Leading the Cougs were Malcolm Brown, Jack Murrey, Kevin McCrossin and Eric Newton, all who scored in double figures. Great team effort Cougs!
The 8th grade basketball team lost to a quick Spanaway Lake team 42-34. Scott Campbell and Josh Latta stood out with some great hustle plays while Chris Glahn was able to score some inside points for the cougars.
3/4/08 vs Cedarcrest
Yesterday, the 8th grade boy’s basketball team won their first game of the season by beating Cedercrest 48-44. Jacob Ruhle scored early and often with a team high 10 points. Josh Broom came off the bench to knock down some sweet long range jumpers to give the cougars the lead late in the game. Travis Cox was a monster late in the game grabbing rebound after rebound to put down a late Cedercrest run. Also playing well for the cougars were Chris Glahn, Thomas Jefferson Grant, and Scott Campbell.
Varsity Basketball was victorious yesterday afternoon over Cedarcrest. The guys jumped out to an early lead that they would never relinquish. Leading the way for the Cougars was Malcolm Brown with 18 points, Eric Newton with 17 points, and Jack Murrey chipping in a dozen points. Nice job Cougs!
3/7/08 vs Cougar Mountain
Yesterday, both Cougar basketball teams lost their games to Cougar Mountain. The varsity squad was down 15-0 at one point in the first quarter, but pulled back to within 4 before halftime behind some stellar defense from Malcolm Brown and Brad Finlayson. Unfortunately, Cougar Mountain came out after halftime and was red hot shooting the ball to send the cougars home in defeat.
The JV squad had a hard time overcoming a slow start as well and fell to Cougar Mt in the nightcap. Scott Campbell, Travis Cox, and Chris Glahn all had outstanding defensive games for the cougars.
3/11/08 vs Frontier
Yesterday the cougar JV hoopsters lost to a fiesty frontier squad. Scott Campbell scored consistently in the paint and Big Daddy Jacob Ruhle demonstrated some great hustle diving after loose balls and grabbing rebounds.
Behind some great defensive play yesterday, the varsity basketball team won a hard fought game against Frontier. Brad Finlayson and Jack Murrey were all over the court defensively and Eric Newton sacrificed his body by taking a couple of charges. Kevin McCrossin hit a big three pointer down the stretch, while Mitchell Odd and Ross Rowinski played some quality minutes.
3/13/08 vs Bethel
The varsity basketball team lost a thriller yesterday to Bethel. Eric Newton pulled down a rebound, went coast to coast and made a beautiful pass to Jack Murrey for the layup to tie the game with 4 seconds to go. The defense was great, but Bethel made an improbable last second shot to win the game 59 – 57. Tough luck, but a great team effort Cougs!
Yesterday, the cougar 8th graders gave Bethel Jr. High all they wanted, but fell a little short in the end. Scott Campbell, Travis Cox, and Chris Glahn were dynamite defensively, while Josh Latta and Jacob Ruhle provided the punch on offense.

3/24/08 vs Spanaway
Yesterday, the JV basketball team played a tenacious game against an athletic Spanaway Lake team, but came up a little short in the end. Travis Cox and Scott Campbell played tough defense, Chris Glahn and Lance Kyles took some charges, and Josh Broom hit some outside jumpers for the Cougars.
The varsity boy’s basketball team dominated Spanaway yesterday winning by a score of 69 to 43. Jack Murrey led the way for the Cougs with 25 points while Kevin McCrossin tickled the twine 5 times from 3-point land. Alan Reilly had a sweet pull up jumper to extend the lead in the fourth quarter; while Paul Madden and Trevor Hieberg helped the Cougs finish strong. Way to go Cougs! 3/27/08 vs Cougar Mountain
The varsity boys basketball ended a successful season by beating a tough Cougar Mountain team 62-58. Kevin McCrossin was on fire, torching the twine with a school record 9 three pointers, on his way to a scintillating 31 point effort. Ross Rowinski and Mitchell Odd played tough for the Cougs, while Eric Newton added 18 points. Way to end a good season Cougs!
