CJH Red Ribbon Week

2007

October 29th - November 2nd marks Columbia’s celebration of Red Ribbon Week.  Red Ribbon Week is the most widely recognized drug prevention week in the nation.  It honors Drug and Alcohol Enforcement Agent, Enrique Camarena.  Agent Camarena had a passion and desire for keeping America free from the influences of drug lords across our borders.  He was killed in action on March 5th, 1985.  After Agent Camarena’s death, hundreds of students at the high school he attended wore red ribbons and pledged to lead a drug-free life to honor the sacrifices he and others make on behalf of all Americas. The Cougar Ambassadors will host lunchtime activities, paw pledges and provide free Care Grams in honor of Red Ribbon Week.

Red Ribbon Week Theme Days will be held throughout the week beginning Monday and ending Friday.  The Themes are as follows:

Monday – Being drug free is no sweat…  wear sweats

Tuesday – Red rally day… wear red

Wednesday – Say boo to drugs…  wear your Halloween costumes

Thursday – Put a cap on Drugs…  wear your funky hats.

Friday – Show your school spirit…  wear your CJH gear

Class points will be awarded based on student participation during Theme Days.
