Fife School District WOW (Working on the Work) Academy

CJH Science Staff and Principal

Mr. Moseley, Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Aker, Dr. Johnson, Mrs. Swenson

On October 26th and 27th, the Fife School district facilitated its first District WOW Academy for the 2006-2007 school year, with the excellent leadership of Ms. Elaine Smith. Ms. Smith led the teams through the 'Coaching For Design' process.  There were teams from all 6 of our schools, and each school team was chosen based upon an application process focusing on 'hard to teach' concepts.

The CJH Science Department and Mr. Nelson, CJH Principal, met to develop a unit of study for 8th grade science students.  The focus of the team was the 'scientific inquiry process'.  This has been identified as one of the 'hard to teach concepts' by our teaching staff.  The work and time were fruitful.  The result of the two days of intense work, is a unit ready to be utilized by staff with our students immediately.  Thank you to our teachers and principal for the hard work.  Thank you also to our district leadership, especially Dr. McCammon and Mrs. Shade, for making this time available.
