The mission of Environmental Club is to give students the opportunity to better connect with nature,
while gaining an understanding that no matter what… they have an impact on nature, as well as, nature having an impact on them.
In doing so, they will take a personal interest in preserving the natural urban habitats around them.
Throughout the 2008/09 school year, Columbia students were exposed to various habitats through classroom activities and fieldtrips, with the culminating project… building birdhouses, which students were able to mount in the Dacca Community Park pond area.
Thank you… to the Puyallup/ Chambers-Clover Small Grants Program and the Audubon Society for funding
these valuable endeavors that provided students the chance to learn more about urban environments.
I also want to thank the City of Fife for working with the Environmental Club for allowing students to mount their
birdhouses around the Dacca Community Park's pond area.
