Columbia Junior High School Girls Cross Country Team Expectations
The following forms must be completed and turned in to the office prior to participating.
Physical Exam Form Physicals must be renewed every 24 months and must be turned in to the office before students may participate in practices or games.
Parent/Student activity participation & medical authorization form As family information can (and does) change from on season to the next, this form must be filled out completely and signed by the student and parent prior to each sport season in which your child wishes to participate.
A.S.B. card: All students must have an A.S.B. card (Fee of $30.00)
Practice Times and Meets Please see attached meet schedule. Practices will be held at Columbia Junior High School. Practices will start at 2:45 p.m. ending no later than 4:30. Home meets should end no later than 4:30 p.m.; return times for away meets will vary, however, we should be back to Columbia no later than 5:00 p.m. Athletes should be picked up in front of the gym entrance upon arrival.
Clothing and Uniforms Practice attire should consist of running shoes, shorts, t-shirts/tank-tops, socks, sweatpants or running tights, and jacket/sweatshirt/vest. Be prepared for fall weather. Uniforms will be issued to athletes the week of September 20th. XC uniforms include: singlet, shorts, warm-up pants, and warm-up jacket. XC uniforms should be worn only on meet days. Students will be charged for lost or damaged articles. Students must provide their own running shoes, socks, and sport bras/regular bras.
Academics All team members are expected to be exemplary student athletes by maintaining a 2.0 GPA or better and satisfactory citizenship in all classes. Academic progress will be checked periodically throughout the season and problems will be dealt with on individual basis. A runner with a failing grade will not be able to participate in meets, however, they are still expected to participate in practices.
Sportsmanship Sportsmanship and team spirit are very important. All team members will conduct themselves in a positive manner. All runners treat their coaches, teammates, opponents, officials, etc. with respect.
Absences You must attend practice and take part in workouts with the team in order to be a part of the team and compete in meets. If you must miss a practice, you will be excused if you check with the coach prior to your absence and explain your reason for being absent. If runners are in school and out of practice twice (two unexcused absences), they will be dismissed from the team. Do not ask for special privileges, which might be detrimental to the team.
Injuries Report and notify the coach of any injuries or physical problems that occur throughout the season. If treated by a doctor, provide a written statement from the doctor as to what, if any, limitations you may have. Otherwise, you will be expected to participate in all team activities.
