Title I Program Assignment

3 hours per day

2010-2011 School Year schedule             

$12.47 to $15.61 DOE

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  Effectively assist and support the classroom teacher who is responsible for the classroom program.  Effectively support and extend instruction and services to program eligible students, thereby increasing student learning.  Present himself/herself to the public as a good “first impression” of our District.  Perform tasks as directed to assist teachers and program in the supervisory, clerical, and educational needs of students.  Perform daily duties of supervision of students in specially assigned areas.   Consistently use positive behavior management strategies and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualification Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must meet “Highly Qualified” federal/state standards:  Possess an Associate’s Degree (or higher) or completion and passage of Educational Testing Service (ETS) ParaPro Assessment Test (copy of transcript for AA degree or higher, or ETS test results must be included with application)
  • Demonstrate dependability in work attendance   
  • Experience and/or training in working with students preferred
  • Available to work evening parent events periodically, with compensation, that may occur after the regular work day
  • Ability to tutor students in reading, writing, math, and other subjects as needed under the direction of certificated staff using good communications skills in English  (position at this time will focus mainly on math)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and community agencies using good communications skills
  • Ability to collaborate with other teachers in helping with instruction of students
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as listed. 
  • The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
  • Must have completed or be able to complete Washington State Fourteen Core Competencies for Paraeducators immediately after hire.
