3rd Graders'

8 Minute Drawings

in the style of

Claude Monet

The third graders really challenged themselves with this project!!!  We studied the life and paintings of Claude Monet.  We learned about the Impressionists' style of painting.  Specifically, we learned that because Monet painted outdoors, he painted quickly and his brushstrokes were clearly visible.  He wasn't interested in perfection.  He wanted to capture a moment in time.  We used oil pastels to create our quick landscape drawings.  The photo slides changed before ten minutes, so there was quite a rush of artists' hands drawing, blending, layering and shading.
