4th Grade Drawing/Painting

This was a fourth grade project that truly was designed just to fill the "in-between times" of our clay project. Never did I imagine that the results would be so fantastic! We began with a power-point slide-show of Marc Chagall's paintings. We learned that world events impacted Chagall's life, but not his attitude. We examined his flying figures and animals and wondered about the symbolism. Finally, we began our own floating/flying sketch. The rules were few, just follow the steps; sketch, trace, color with the Watercolor crayons and paint with water, frame and sign the work. Some students started the process with a mystery scribble line that was their inspiration for their object in the sky, but others had a more solid plan right from the beginning. Either way, they are great!
