3rd Graders'

Hand Collages

-Inspired by the Collage Art of Henri Matisse-

                    

The third graders studied the collages of French artist, Henri Matisse. 

We modified Matisse's signature shape by using our own hands!  The steps were simple (3 papers, 2 hands on each paper, use a background, etc.) but the variety in the compositions was clear.  Each student balanced their colors, filled their space and created their own creative solutions to the problem of how to make hands and scraps a work of Art.  I think they solved the problem with great success!
