Poetry

Winter by Kasey H.

Sleds,

Snowmen,

Snow,

Slippery,

Sparkly,

Scarf,

Shovel,

Snowflakes,

Smiles!

Koalas  by Kasey H.

A koala is a wondrous thing,

It crawls from tree to tree.

It may not dance or act or sing,

But it just might wave to me.

School Days by Grace M.

School days, school days,

Good old golden days.

Rule days, rule days,

Good old golden days.

Poetry by Asia

The Wild Goose

He climbs the wind above green clouds of pine,

Honking to hail the gathering migration,

Arching toward the south, he pulls to align his flight

Into the great spearhead formation.

He’ll find a bayou—land of hidden pools,

Basking amid lush ferns and water lilies,

Far from the frozen world of earth bound fools

Who, shivering, maintain that geese are silly.

The Alchemist City

My window shows the traveling clouds,

Leaves spent, new seasons, altered sky.

The making and the melting crowds,

The whole passes; I stand by.

Wind and Silver

Greatly shining,

The autumn moon floats in the thin sky.

The fish ponds shake their backs and flash their dragon scales,

As she passes over them.

Looking for Mushrooms

Fall: the dry threshold,

To the woods, trees blown apart,

Leaf by leaf.

A black snake coiled in the sun,

Flutters its forked tongue,

And glides like oil over a path.

The Wild Swans

The trees are in their autumn beauty,

The woodland paths are dry.

Under the October twilight the water mirrors a clear sky.

Upon the brimming water among the stones are nine and fifty swans.

October

Knuckles of the rain on the roof,

Chuckles into the drain pipe,

Spatters on the leaves that litter

The grass.

Ms.Merdian’s class had a speaker from the Yupik tribe.

The speaker, Mianne Flores told of things like painting animals and making bracelets, that help to keep her ancestors alive.  She also told of  the various dances of the Yupik tribe.  The Yupik tribe comes from Alaska.
