Student Work in Music
Our Core Curriculum-Yamaha's Music In Education-philosophy is every child should have a sustained education in music as active music makers, creators, and responders. To acheive this your student is asked to:
- Sing!
- Move to music.
- Listen and respond to music using proper vocabulary.
- Use the electronic keyboard as the primary instrument to play music.
- Compose, notate, and arrange music following developmentally appropriate guidelines.
Each student has a portfolio where all written work is kept. This portfolio is sent home at the end of the school year with the student as a record of their progress and growth.
Parents are encouraged to stop by the music room during conferences or by appointment to review their student's portfolio.
Students have the opportunity to record many of their indvidual performances. Those students who chose to do this on a regular basis will have an audio portfolio to go with their written work. All recordings are in the mp3 format and can be transfered to CD and/or a mp3 player.
