LETTERING
REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for a letter in swimming at Fife High School one must attend all mandatory practices and all meets unless there is a reasonable excuse (example; illness, injury, etc. not; I left my goggles at home, I don’t have a towel, etc). The following will be used in earning your Varsity Letter in addition to the above requirements.
Attendance
1 point - For each practice attended – 41 (90 minutes is considered a full practice)
2 points - For each meet attended – 16
1 additional point will be given for each perfect attendance week.
Attendance is a huge factor in lettering. You cannot miss more than three practices in order to letter.
3 tardies equal 1 unexcused absence. You cannot make up an unexcused absence or tardies.
A swimmer may not have any more than 3 excused absences during the season.

Competition
1 point - For each varsity event competed in
*you need to be in at least 4 varsity events to letter*
5 points - Competing in District meet
10 points - Team Record
20 points - Competing at State
Scoring at State
50 Points - State Top 3
All American
100 Points - State Champion Individual or Relay
Coaches Points
There will be up to 10 points an individual can earn and it is up to the coaches if a swimmer earns them. The points consist of attitude, effort and commitment.

Expectations
- All athletes must attend every practice (promptly at 2:45) and meets.
- If you miss practice the day before a meet, you will not swim in that meet.
- You are to conduct yourself at all times as a student athlete at Fife High School.
- Athletes are expected to follow the Fife High School Student Athletic Handbook code guidelines at all times throughout the season.
