Bell Assign: See link and define the following in your notebook- adaptation, ad lib, aerial shot, a-level, allegory Quiz on last Friday's and all this weeks terms on Friday.
Discuss filming jobs needed for this week. I can't do everything. I have filmed almost all of the spring sports and Prom myelf. Need to step up.
First let's look at some shooting tips sites I found yesterday - (Please remind me to link any of these to our tech site if we decide as a class they are very useful. Remind me towards end of class please....thanks.) *Let's take a look at some of these concepts in the shooting of 'Skateboarding tip page.' Can help us filming anything. *Hope this link works. If not, should check them out at home. Kind of entertaining explanation of some basic filming techniques. Check it out - Acceptable TV *Another good site on shot composition - Option 1 - Beautiful Morning Today - Non-Senior Video Crew or TTV Planning members going to be sent out to pull together some beautiful scenery shots applying the skills we learned today. You will import these shots and export to a folder named FHS Scenery in the Class One Folder on the server. Like these shots to be done on the new Panasonic PV-GS500B...so you will need to sit down with a manual and go through the basic features before using. Click for Manual Option 2. SENIOR VIDEO CREW Senior Video "This is it...need to get major parts completed in next two weeks. Staff, Around School, Transitions."
Option 3. Trojan TV Planning - Air the first week of June. Underclassman will head this one up. Directors: Conner, Jordan, M, Malorie, Haley, Nathanial Theme - To be determined. FOR SURE TTV STORIES - *Dedication to Mrs. Maulding - *Prom & Spring Fling *Recap & Recognize - done with voice over and recap what has been going on. Include new cheerleaders, new ASB officers, play highlights, spring fling, *Sports - Recap Sports Season. Do it with a real anchor and meaningful voice over. Highlight standouts.
Vinny & rest of KATN group. Putting signs up without clearing with me and Ms. Stubrud first. Not a good follow up to the problem I had with your film festival text graphic. We need to talk. Sign out before leaving class today for any reason and do not disrupt classes by filming near or around them.

Third - let's group up and send students out in pairs and get some nice school scenery shots and apply some of the skills we have discussed today - Stay away from classroom windows and be on task. (If you have missing work you will be staying in class and not going out to film. You can work on missing work instead.) |

Apologies again. As I have had to before, I need to apologize for my irritability most of the time and especially recently. I have been increasing a lot of my medications to control transplant side effects and they are very hard on me mentally. I stuggle with concentration, focus, and am very irritable. I am trying my best, but as you all know, I have days. Thank you for your understanding and patience. However, if I am irritated at you for wasting time and not doing anything, that has nothing to do with medication, you truly are making me mad. Bell Assign: See link and define the following in your notebook- Allusion, Alternate Ending, Ambiance, Ambient Light, Ambriquity. Vocab Quiz Friday!!! Need help getting my son's footage all exported if you imported some for me I need it in my teacher folder. Concerns: *Please be responsible and put things away and clean up after yourself. Spending all my time cleaning up after everyone just trying to keep tabs on everything. Can't do it without your help. *Sign out whenever leaving classroom...EVERYONE! *Do not pull any kids out of class without checking with me and their teacher first. *Planning in hallway, but not the shack. Shack is being used by most people to sit and chill and watch one or two people do planning. If you take chairs out there...bring them back!! Students are involved in one of the following: Trojan TV - Once it is all planned out I want to direct one of you to type it up for our website. Give assignments to who is doing what. I will not be much help on this edition, so all direction is up to you guys. Directors: Jordan, Connner, ??? who else? FOR SURE TTV STORIES - *Dedication to Mrs. Maulding -
*Recap & Recognize - done with voice over and recap what has been going on. Include new cheerleaders, new ASB officers, Mr. Fife, play highlights, etc. *Sports - Recap Sports Season. Do it with a real anchor and meaningful voice over. Highlight standouts. SENIOR VIDEO - Parts remaining Staff, Around School, Spring, Transitions." Need transitions storyboard out...every shot, location, narration, etc. Have a plan. Needs to be filmed and edited together this week!! Create Skills Demonstrations - 5 minutes max each To Do - Clearly, there isn't something for everyone to be doing. If you are not actively working on a project, I want you to take on a tutorial project. Get into groups and you will create tutorials on the following concepts to enhance the skills of our entire class. You will present these tutorials to our class as a video or narrated slide presentation. Lighting - (good lighting link) Sound (include how to do an interview) and the different types of mics and how to use them and when. Shooting Basics and Composition - Operation of the PV-GS500B Click for Manual Other concepts we should be teaching how to do? How to scan images to prepare for video? How to make a DVD? To Do - Shoot an interview...light it, mic it, tripod it. Just do a simple interview where you introduce the person, share something about their family, interests, future goals, etc. Bring it to a close. Film it in a nice setting. Before starting let's discuss some basic lighting and sound concepts together. There are some good links out there on these topics...do a little looking. I found this one for example: (good lighting link) Bonus Points - 2 points extra credit given to each group that writes 'I read entire agenda today!' with their name on a piece of paper and places it in green turn in file. |

Yesterday was my 4 Year Anniversary of my Bone Marrow transplant. Here's a link to that day in my journal. Bell Assign: See link and define the following in your notebook. Do the next five words on the list. Reminds me to step back and realize what a gift our health is. We should never take it for granted. Are you living your life to its fullest potential? Shack is off LIMITS unless you are filming! No more exceptions. I am tired of watching people sleep on couches and pretend they are doing something. Nobody is sitting around today! If you are not involved directly on something you are focusing your efforts on the things below. I am going to test frequently over the next week on the equipment below and you will be graded on it. Camera Training - Yesteday I went through the new Panasonic PV-GS500B cameras with my Video One students. Covered everything from White Balance, changing film speed, changinig aspect ratio, manual features, Attaching Mics and Headphones, Playing Video out to a TV, etc. Some of you have looked the cameras over, but haven't really dived into the manuals and learned every feature. Needs to happen today. I will be testing on these tomorrow. I want everyone in class to know these cameras inside out. Couple of you I want to be learned the Panasonic DVX-100 cameras as well. Lighting - Know the lights available to us and how to use them all. In addition, reflectors. Microphones - Kevin McGhee, Davis Helgen, and possibly a couple other people know how to use the UHF Wireless mics very well. All of you need to learn how to use these as well. You should all know how to use and hook up EVERY micrphone we have and when it is best to use each. Snowball Mic - How do you use this and read the booklet that comes with it for different ways to talk into it for different sound. Senior Video Crew - Want to discuss a few things with you as a group today. Let's meet before you all spread out. Dedication to Sturba, Maulding, and especially Ms. Fore (anyone else) at the beginning of Senior Video. Want this to be done well. TTV Crew - Everything looks good, but I want to discuss the 'Boiling Point' story. Vinny - have to get the ice skating footage exported TODAY! Keep forgetting and we'll eventually lose it. Also, any other cool Lifetime Activities with Seniors you need to have a heads up and get them filmed.
Zac Iams will be helping with a Back to the Future Logo for beginning and end. Want it to say "BACK TO THE FUTURE - FHS SENIORS 2008" Someone needs to communicate with him to arrange some pictures of the MR-2 car we are using. He wants to use it in the intro. |

Friday 5/9 |
Quote of the Day! “Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success."
”Bell Assignment: Take out sheet of paper and take quiz at this link. Do not refer to the website links or your neighbors paper Turn in quiz to appropriate file rack slot. Needs to be done in first ten minutes of class for credit. Bell Assignments are ending today. From now on you will need to give me a very thorough and specific write up of your daily participation on your weekly participation sheets. If you are not able to prove you did something constructive such as working on a Senior Video Section or got certified on something or learned a new skill we needed you will not get points for the day.
CREATE A CALENDAR CHART ON WHITEBOARD TO CONFIRM WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN AND HOW ARE WE GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN Things to plan: 1. Filming Assignments - Post season sports, assemblies, behind scenes at play, around school, school scenic shots.
2. TTV Directors - Jordan Lewis, Conner, Malori & Vinny - This is your baby...just make it happen. I will be of little help. Your job to figure out recap stuff, etc. Talk to me often so I can give some feedback on things. 3. Concerns about Boys Basketball Footage - Boys Basketball Footage for Senior Video is WEAK! I personally filmed some of this and know there are much, much, much better clips. I am assigning someone to get this footage TODAY!!! 4. Thoughts on Around School Section Shots - Through next week will be a major emphasis on filming around school for Senior Video. Want people going around each period and during both lunches gathering shots of students in their classroom settings doing subject relevant activities, but clearly giving a positive and happy look ot the camera...fun, yet working on the work. Get it? We will make anouncements for Seniors to watch for cameras and let's discuss setting up group friend shots during both lunches for several days...choose nice weather. Make signs to hold up during lunch and other creative ways to get the word out for Seniors to look for you. Also what other footage should we include in this section? Ice skating? Snowboarding? Other? Section is one song long (three to four miutes max....so it has to move.) 5. Graduation Version of Senior Video - I need to coordinate footage from the around school group to be included in our Graduation Night senior video that airs in the dome in front of thousands of people. I already know what song I wan to use. Shack was left a total mess yesterday...again. Empty drink containers, crumbs, dirty dishes, etc. Stay out! Stay out! Unless you are filming on the Green Screen...DON'T EVEN ASK ME. I'm done dealing with it. 6. Certification - Need to be sure people are trained to use gear - Testing on use of various production set ups. I will be developing testing stations for everyone to show me they can do various things - Just for starters - Understand Basics of FCP Burning A DVD Duplicatinig a DVD Using at least the new Panosonic PV-GS500B cameras and any mic we have. Using lights and filters. Shooting Techniques and Skills 7. Senior Video Page Link - what is done and what needs to be done and when will it be done. 8. Back Room and Room Care 9. Cleaning Up Drives and Server
Bonus - Students come up to me during last two minutes of class only and give me a small piece of paper with your name and period on it and I will give you extra credit points for reading the agenda.

Quote of the Day! “Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success."
Let's develop our clear plan with deadlines and what needs to be done and who will be doing it.
Bell Assignment: Take out sheet of paper and take quiz at this link. Do not refer to the website links or your neighbors paper Turn in quiz to appropriate file rack slot. Needs to be done in first ten minutes of class for credit. *Sorry to be so negative...but this class period left my backroom a disaster yesterday. Equipment was all in the wrong place. Aides need to step up and learn where everything goes and be sure students are getting things back. People on my graded aide list are Conner, Brian, Haley, and Blake. If my trust in how the back room is cared for does not improve immediately and I can't depend on you I will not give you a passing grade for the aide position. Everyone else....stay out of the back room. There is not reason four aides can't handle this reponsibility. Music & Drama Segment of the Senior Video Interview Projects Status School Scenery Shots Filming of Track Meet Make Calendar of deadlines on back board. Assign couple people for the graduation version of Senior Video. Colton -talk to McGhee about basketball footage. Jordan...give me status of the track footage. Students come up to me during last two minutes of class only and give me a small piece of paper with your name and period on it and I will give you extra credit points for reading the agenda.
|
Bell Assignment: Take out sheet of paper and take quiz at this link . Easiest quiz you can take. I will let you look at the website. Just using this as a way to reinforce some important terms. To Do Today - *Scenery shots interview using a mic. Before I send you...what gear will you need? Look at some scenery shots I took. *Missing too many assignments...not going out...staying to catch up. *Really want to help your grade? Earn grace from some missing work? Help Filming Playoff Sports Activities? Big one is this weekend. Track. Let's look at some sports clips and go from there. Next Week - *Testing on use of various production set ups will occur next week.
