TDM FILM FESTIVAL - April 25th, 2008

(No reason for this photo being placed here

other than the character's last name is 'Fife'.)

What is the TDM Film Festival?

It is an evening film festival filled with fun and intrique, which will take place in the Columbia Junior High School Performing Arts Center on April 25th.

We will be taking the best Trojan TV Stories, Video One Class Projects, and Advanced Video Films and showing them together for an unforgettable evening of enterntainment.  Hopefully, the National Student Film Emmy Awards will be announced on this evening as well.

Film Requirements

Length:  1 to 10 minute maximum.

Content:  Must be school appropriate (PG) - no graphic violence, drug and/or sex references, gang promotion, or dark religious references.  This is FAMILY entertainment for ALL ages!

Safety:  Filming must not involve any physical risks or illegal activities such as speeding, etc.

Topic of Film:  Be Creative.  Topic is up to you.  You can take on a comedy, drama, mystery, music video, spoof, documentary, etc.

Technical Requirements:

A.  All shots must be properly composed, steady, and in focus.

B.  Looking for multiple shot angles...not just a home movie look.

C.  Beware of jump cuts and changing directions.  Follow 180 rule.

D.  Narration must be strong and clear.   Music is to enhance, not overpower.

E.  Lighting is crucial.  Variance in lighting ruins the scene.  Shoot it over if necessary.

F.  Must be able to follow a STORY.  Do not want a bunch of random shots of ridiculous stuff that

a five year old could film.  Show a committment to professionalism.  I will not air bad video at this festival...PERIOD!!

G.  Let's see you use Final Cut Pro to a higher level.  Try multiple images on screen at once, speed changes,

filters when appropriate, mattes, etc.  Use the program to what it's capable of!!

H.  A clever opening title and closing.  Include credits at end done in a unique and clever manner.

This is your crowning achievement.  Your best effort.  Do not be embarressed by your production, but be proud.

All entries are due by Friday...April 18th!!

Good Luck and do something you will be proud of!!
