GLASS

A NEW MEDIUM FOR FIFE SCHOOL DISTRICT

                For the last two months, Fife junior high and high school art teachers have teamed up to introduce a new medium in the Fife School District:  glass.  After receiving a new glass kiln through CTE funds, students have been able to explore this exciting medium.  Melting before their eyes, students have watched their glass artwork fuse and slump.  Charms, plates, bowls, pins, and visual art have the students (and teachers) hooked! 

Students learn about cutting glass, opaque vs. transparent color, using frit, composition, repetition, fusing methods, slumping, and design elements.
