Students in Three-Dimensional Design classes started the 2007 school year learning about functional art.  We discussed the Elements and Principles of Design as students sketched ideas.  The challenge was then to take their 2-D ideas and turn them into a set of usable shakers.  Students came up with the assessment rubric as a class.  They would be graded on craftmanship, creative design, texture, and most of all.....did they work? 

Vocabulary we focused on:  Symmetry, Texture, Creative Process, Form, Balance, Unity, Functional, Bisqueware, Dinnerware Safe Glazes.
