Drawing and Painting @ FHS...
view syllabus
Drawing and Painting is a semester
course designed to improve students' skills in both areas.
Students learn the value of art appreciation as they participate
in critiques, shows, and art history. We look at the value
of art in life: careers, personal benefits, and communication.
Students are exposed to various styles of art as we discuss composition,
purpose, value, technique, and presentation. We use the elements
and priciples of art as guidelines, but students are encouraged
to test the boundaries through experimentation. Student work
is exhibited throughout the campus and district office as well as
four art shows: Fall
Semester Show, District Art Show (spring semester), Regional
PSESD Show, and Puyallup Fair JR/SR Show. The curriculum
incudes a wide variety of projects focused on the "Essential
Academic Learning Requirements" set by the state.
Essential
Academic Learning Requirements
1.
The student understands and applies arts knowledge and skills.
2. The student demonstrates thinking skills using
artistic processes.
3. The student communicates through the arts.
4. The student makes connections within and across the arts
to other disciplines, life, cultures, and work.
