Computer Aided Drafting and Design
This Class is presented with the intention of giving two very different aspects of Computer Aided Drafting. Due to the vast difference of programs and types of drafting, I will focus the class on design more than knowing the program. The two programs we will use will be Rhinoceros and Chief Architect. Therefore, there are basically two different classes, spending 9 weeks in each. RhinoRhino is a 3-D modeling program with basic design capabilities. It deals with aspects of modeling free-form curves, surfaces, and solids. It is used primarily for illustration, engineering, design, documentation drawing, entertainment, and animation. In addition to developing a working knowledge of 3-D terminology and concepts, each student will learn to create a variety of 3-D geometric models from technical drawings, sketches, real models, and written descriptions. Chief ArchitectChief Architect is a 3-D home design program. Most of the details that you need to create in Rhino are automatically done for you in this program. So, again, your focus will be on design and transferring real life into a drawing, both for improvement and a greater understanding of what goes into architecture.
