Line Designs of the 2nd Graders

This was our first project.  It was a challenge, but the students excelled!  This first drawing examines the art element of Line and the principle of Pattern.  The 2nd graders did an outstanding job. We began by learning our new "Line" vocabulary words and then we explored our new art room as we played a game called "Find a Line."  By this time we were more than ready to pick up a marker and draw.  Each initial line was as different as the artist who drew it.  The remainder of the space was filled with more lines and patterns.  Wow!!!

Not only did we learn about lines in our drawings in Art class, but we also attended our new Creative Arts class and participated in a movement activity to learn about straight, curvy and zig-zag pathways in movement!
