Clay Pinch Pots with Coil Additions

The third graders jumped right into Art this year by making their clay pinch pot on their very first day!  The process began with the same technique as last year, a pinch pot, but we didn't stop there.  The added challenge was to use a coil technique and add a handle, lid or foot to the pot.   They expanded their vocabulary with words like coil, kiln, fire and glaze.  They had a great time with this project and the results are fantastic.
