Jazz Collage

Inspired by the Art and Music of the Harlem Renaissance

The 3rd Graders spent some time learning about the Harlem Renaissance.  We looked at art from Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden and Faith Ringgold.  We integrated music as we listened to Jazz music of the time.  We successfully attempted the technique of Contour Drawing as we drew 5 fairly complicated musical instruments which we were able to cut out and use in our cool collage compositions!
