Book reports:  We will be doing five book reports this year.  I will be explaining these assignments in detail in class when we approach the particular time in the year.  The schedule and types of reports we will be doing are listed below:

October:  Reader’s Choice can be either fiction or nonfiction.  The book must be at appropriate reading level, a chapter book and must be chosen and approved by Mr. Williams by September 28th.  Due date October 30th, Tuesday.

November/December: Fantasy.  Students will make a Triorama (with words and pictures) and present to the class telling about their book. The book must be chosen and approved by Mr. Williams by Nov. 9th.   Due date Dec. 7th

January/February: Biography. Choose a prominent American in history and read a book about him or her.  Do a collage on poster board showing the main themes in your subject’s life; what was he/she famous for?  The book must be chosen and approved by Mr. Williams by Jan. 11th.    Due date February 8th.

March: Historical fiction.  Choose a historical novel (Mr. Williams can help) to read and then complete a worksheet that we can use to build a 5 slide powerpoint presentations about the book. The book must be chosen and approved by Mr. Williams by February 29th.  Book must be read and worksheet completed by March 21st.  Due date for powerpoint presentation which we will do in class is April 4th.

May:   Mystery. Choose a mystery book at your reading level.  This time you will be an oral presentation to the class in order to persuade others to read the book, without giving the ending away.  During your presentation you will give the title and author of the book, describe the setting and characters and explain the plot of the story.  You should have a review of the book.  The book must be chosen and approved by Mr. Williams by May 2nd.  Due date June 6th.
