Welcome to Room 309!!!

Our goal is to provide a cozy,

comfortable learning environment.

            

Our daily morning meetings and much of our whole group instruction

are held in this cheery corner. Everyone loves their turn

in the rocking chair!

 

We have a variety of seating areas in different sizes, shapes,

and heights to accommodate each student's preference.

Seating arrangements are not assigned, but can be chosen

to fit the task at hand and/or the student's mood.

 

Most of our supplies are shared, with a place for everything

and everything in it's place. Here you see our writing center.

 

                    

We use soft, defused, hanging and corner lamps, rather than

overhead flourescent lights, which tend to glare and have been linked to

seizure disorders in young children.

 

The students love to cozy-up and read to themselves, or each other,

on pillows, the couch, or in any of our many "reading nooks."

 

                                          

Everyone has a classroom chore to do each day.

Our second/third graders learn to self-monitor their behaviors

and work hard to be responsible members of our learning community.

Our class is a "looping class," which means all the students and the teacher

stay together for both second and third grade!
