Even though your spirit grows faint within you,
I know the right and perfect way for you.
I'll get you safely through the hidden traps,
My endless love for you endures forever!
I promise I will never abandon you!
Psalm 138:8, 142:3
Deuteronomy 31:6
I arrived home from the hospital last night (5/3/06) about 8:30. As you can imagine, no words can describe how good it feels to be home. I must admit, I am nervous, because I have been under exceptional care and now we must manage things on our own. There will be some challenges ahead, but I pray the healing process continues and I recover more quickly in the comfort and security of my family. The doctors have me on numerous medications and a strict lactose free, BRAT diet to manage the diarrhea, which may still take some time to completely clear. The main goal is to reduce some of my immunosuppression medications so my immune system can fight the viral infection in my colon more effectively. Spending almost a month in the hospital dealing with this has really zapped my strength. It will take time and patience to get back to feeling physically strong again. However, I am motivated to work hard and recover as fast as possible. I will be checking in frequently with my local oncologist to monitor my fluids and blood levels. I anticipate needing fluid replacement from time to time until this is all over with. I am hopeful to return to work again on Monday.

I am so grateful to everyone who has been so supportive through all of this and I ask for continued prayers that my symptoms can completely clear and I can feel totally healthy again real soon. I am blessed to have been treated by the finest medical professionals. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals along the way who did their part to help me through this very difficult time.

I received a wonderful letter yesterday from a member of our church whom I have never met. It was such a moving letter and included in it a great devotional. I wanted to share this devotional with you:
My way led up a hill, and right at the foot I saw a boy on a bicycle. He was pedaling uphill against the wind, and evidently found it tremendously hard work. Just as he was working most strenuously and doing his best painfully, there came a trolley car going in the same direction up the hill.
It was not going too fast for the boy to get behind it, and with one hand lay hold of the bar at the back. Then you know what happened. He went up that hill like a bird. Then it flashed upon me: Why, I am like that boy on the bicycle in my weariness and weakness. I am pedaling uphill against all kinds of opposition, and am almost worn out with the task. But here at hand is a great available power, the strength of the Lord Jesus. I have only to get in touch with him, and maintain communication with Him, though it may be only a little finger of faith, and that will be enough to make His power mine for doing this bit that just now seems too much for me.
I really enjoyed this devotional, and I am definitely holding on to God's trolley car to get me over this bump in the road. I thank everyone for their continued prayers and support and look forward to being back to full health real soon.
