Dr. Carl Stegman, former Fife/Milton superintendent, and longtime supporter of local education passed away earlier this week. Here’s a short message from Dr. McCammon to our staff regarding arrangements and his thoughts on Dr. Stegman:

“I spoke to the Stegman family earlier today and I have more information on the services for Dr. Carl Stegman.

The viewing will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday the 14th at the Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup. The Rosary will be held between 6:00 and 7:00. I have linked the funeral home website here so that you can check for directions or any other information that they might update:

The funeral mass will be held at St. Martin of Tours in Fife on Monday the 15th at 11:00 a.m. The family has decided to hold the memorial service at Columbia Junior High School and it will be held during a window of 11:00-4:00 in both the commons and in the Performing Arts Center. There will be a video of Dr. Stegman showing often in the PAC during that time  and there will also be an open microphone for those who would like to comment on the life and times of Dr. Stegman.

A public burial service will be held on Tuesday at the Tahoma Cemetery. The time is TBD and can be found on the Powell Funeral Home website as it becomes available.

As the Superintendent of the Fife School District I am truly saddened by this news as our community has lost a great voice for education and a lifelong public servant to this great Fife/Milton/Edgewood Community. His impact over the many years in both his educational career and in his service as a civil servant to the City of Fife have been invaluable. He will be sorely missed.”

In lieu of flowers the family would request that donations be made to the Fife High School Scholarship Foundation.
