Week of March 3--Kimono Design Purpose: You’ve just been hired to design a kimono by a wealthy Japanese company. The company will pay top dollar for a kimono design that is based on an original Haiku.
Essential Learning: The student understands and applies art knowledge and skills by developing the skill of using a balance of color, line, and texture patterns in their designs that involve symbols representing their Haiku. They show an understanding and application arts styles from various Japanese artists and culture. The student demonstrates thinking skills using artistic processes by applying the creative process (see back of page) The student communicates through the arts by using the arts to express and present the idea of the Haiku, to communicate for a specific purpose, and develop personal aesthetic criteria to communicate artistic choices. The student makes connections within and across the arts to other disciplines, life, cultures, and work by demonstrating and analyzing the connections among the arts and other content areas, understanding that art shape and reflect culture and history, and demonstrating the knowledge of a career in fashion design art.
