Dear Fife Public Schools Community,

I wanted to send you a quick note to give you a little update on our reopening plan for the 2020-2021 school year.  Although we are not ready to give you every specific at this time, we are very close to being at that point.  The past three days, our administrators have worked on all things you are very interested in; student distance learning daily schedules for each grade level, weekly schedules for staff and students, office logistics and many other details.

 Here is the timeline we are working with;

  • August 12th the Reopening Schools Task Force will review the plan.
  • The week of August 17, our school board will review the Task Force’s work.
  • Also the week of August 17, we will email you the details of the plan and submit our plan to OSPI.

While I wish we were able to open up our schools on September 3rd in at least a modified state, we are following the recommendation of our local health department in conjunction with all King and Pierce county school districts and opening up remotely.  We will be opening up with “Continuing Learning 2.0” which is Fife’s distance learning model. We are making sure that this version is exponentially better than our spring version of Continuous Learning.

We also know that the heart and soul of Fife Public Schools is the relationships that we build while working face to face with each other.  This is a very challenging time and because face to face is not an option for all students and staff at this time, we are working hard to build a distance learning model that is both effective and efficient.  At the same time, we are building our hybrid model of learning with the hope that we will be utilizing this learning model sooner rather than later.

We thank you for your patience and I hope you are safe and healthy!

Be well,
