WELCOME BACK!

Fife School District is happy to welcome all students for full-time in-person instruction on September 2, 2021.  As we enter into the new school year, we will continue to stress our safety principles to ensure that we keep our students safe.

Our principles are based on:

  • Appropriate Physical Distancing
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 
  • Good Hygiene - washing hands frequently, hand sanitizer, cleaning personal spaces, cover your cough
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting
  • Stay Home if you’re sick!

More information will be provided as protocols and procedures are developed for specialized programs and extracurricular activities.  The information will also include our response to COVID-19 cases and other school activities.

Bell Schedules

  • Start and end times for all schools will be available at the schools.  Check your school’s website for schedule information.

Bus Schedules

  • Bus route information will be available on August 20, 2021.  Please check the transportation website for more information at Fife Transportation.

Facemasks/Physical Distancing

  • As part of our safety protocols, all school personnel, volunteers, visitors, and students must wear cloth face coverings, or an acceptable alternative (e.g., surgical mask or clear face shield with a drape), at school when indoors.  We will continue to monitor Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and will update our procedures as per requirements.   • Physical distancing will be maintained at 3 feet in the classrooms and 6-feet in common areas to the highest degree possible.

Meals

  • All students will receive free meals during the 2021-2022 school year as part of the Seamless Summer Option.  All currently eligible families for Free and Reduced Meal Plans will need to reapply for meal benefits to obtain other reduced benefits.  For more information call Food Services at 253 517-1000, ext. 29147.

Vaccinations

  • COVID-19 vaccines are available to all people age 12 and older. Fully vaccinated students and staff who do not have symptoms do not have to quarantine when exposed to COVID-19 and may not require COVID-19 testing. Fully Vaccinated - Definition
  • Schools will collect documentation for verification of student vaccinations. Acceptable documentation for verifying the vaccination status of students and staff includes at least one of the following: (K-12 Schools Covid Requirements p. 3)
    • CDC vaccination card which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date(s) administered, 
      • or a photo of the vaccination card. 
    • Documentation of vaccination from a health care provider with the information listed above. 
    • State immunization information system record with the information listed above.
  • Staff and students without appropriate documentation will follow quarantine protocols.

Required Immunizations

According to the Washington Administrative Code WAC 246-105-030, any child attending school, preschools, or child care in Washington State is required by law to be fully immunized against the following diseases:

  • Chickenpox (Varicella)
  • German measles (Rubella)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Polio (Poliomyelitis)
  • Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
  • Diphtheria
  • Hepatitis B
  • Mumps
  • Tetanus

The Tdap vaccine is a 1 dose requirement for grade 7th - 12th.

DOH Immunization Chart

Students must turn in their immunization paperwork on or before the first day of school and will be unable to attend school if this is not completed.

You may email your documentation directly to your school nurse or drop a copy off at the school.

Volunteering

  • Schools will allow volunteers but will be limited to space availability according to the social distancing guidelines. 
  • Volunteers will wear appropriate masks and maintain appropriate distancing at all times. 
  • Volunteers must complete appropriate paperwork and online volunteer application.  
  • Volunteers must provide proof of vaccination and can upload a copy on the volunteer application.
